How to Comment at a Board Meeting

You can comment on any item on a Board of Directors agenda. You do not have to sign up ahead of time or give your name. There are three ways to comment.

1. In person at the meeting

Board meetings are held at the District office, 251 Chester Airport Rd., Chester. The date and time are on each agenda. When the Board reaches an item, the Chair will invite public comment before the Board acts. Speakers are asked to keep comments to three minutes. At regular meetings, there is also a general public comment period for topics that are not on the agenda.

2. Online through the agenda portal

Every agenda is posted on the District’s agenda portal, CivAssist, where you can leave a written comment on an agenda item:

  1. Go to the agenda portal at civassist.com/district/85.
  2. Find the meeting and click [HTML] next to the agenda.
  3. Scroll to the item you want to comment on and click Comment next to it. If the item you want does not have its own Comment link, use the Comment link on the section it falls under and name the item in your comment.
  4. Type your comment in the Your Comment box. Name, city, zip code, phone and email are optional. Anything you enter on this form, including your name and contact information, may be displayed publicly.
  5. Click Submit Comment.

3. By email or mail

Email info@chesterpud.org, or mail your comment to Chester Public Utility District, 251 Chester Airport Rd., Chester, CA 96020. Please include the meeting date and the agenda item.

When to send written comments

Written and online comments should arrive before the meeting starts. If possible, send them by noon on the day of the meeting so the Board has time to read them. Agendas for regular meetings are posted at least 72 hours before the meeting, and agendas for special meetings at least 24 hours before.

What happens to your comment

Written and online comments are shared with the Board of Directors and become part of the public record. Like other District records, they may be released if someone requests them under the California Public Records Act.
