Our Mission

Welcome to Chester Public Utility District

We provide drinking water and wastewater (sewer) service to about 2,100 residents of Chester and the Lake Almanor Basin in Plumas County.

Who We Are

The Chester Public Utility District (CPUD) is a local public agency: a public utility district formed under the California Public Utilities Code (Section 15501 and following). A five-member Board of Directors, elected by District voters, sets policy and rates. A General Manager and a small staff run day-to-day operations.

What We Do

  • Pump, treat, and deliver safe drinking water
  • Collect and treat wastewater
  • Maintain the District's wells, storage tanks, water and sewer lines, and wastewater treatment plant
  • Read meters and bill for water and sewer service
