Fire season is upon us. There have been alot of fires around the North State. Now is the time to make sure your house and property will survive a wildland fire.
The first five feet from your home should not have any flammables in it.
The next 25 feet out from your home should be cleared of ladder fuels, dead or dying vegetation. Trees should be limbed up and at least 10 feet from your home. Keep the vegetation in this area watered and green.
The next 30 to 100 feet or your property line should be free of dead trees or shrubs, trees should be spaced 12 feet from canopy tops and the pine needle and pine cone litter should be removed.
Keep the area around your propane tank clear of flammable materials or shrubs.
