Chester is starting the process of becoming a "Firewise Community". We have a committee and we are getting ready for the first order of business. Our community Assessment has be postponed to April 23, 2018. There will be a group of people from around the county going around Chester to assertain our wildland fire risk.
After the assessement, the committee will get together and go over the assessment findings and start formulating a plan of action. Once that is done we will set some goals and start our community outreach and projects. We are also going to be preparing a CWPP. Once that is in place we will be able to apply for grants to help us with our Firewise projects.
The ultimate goal is that the residents of Chester will know the risk of fire danger around their home and know what steps to take and to accomplish those steps to become more fire resistant.
If you would like to be involved please contact the Chester Fire Department at 530 258 3456.
