Firewise 2019 Kick off

February 11, 2019 Chester Fire Department showed the movie Wilder than Wild.  It showed the reasons behind the catastrophic wildland fires that have been occurring lately.  It also gave suggestions on how to lessen their intensity and impacts.  It was a great way to start off the Firewise season.

The Firewise program is open to all individuals.  The goal is to make our homes, properties and businesses more fire resistant.  We have 4 events planned for the spring.  March 19, 2019 at 6:00, April 16, 2019 at 6:00 and May 14, 2019 at 6:00pm.  These 3 meetings will be at the Chester PUD Conference room.  Please use the side door.  The fourth event will be held on May 4, 2019 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  It is a community participation event.  More details to follow.

Chester Fire Department also offers FREE home wildland fire home ignition check ups.  We will come out to your home and go around the outside of your home and your property letting you know what you have done well and suggestions on what you might want to do to make your property more fire resistant. This is a free service.  We do not cite you and the suggestions are just that suggestions.  The goal is to become a fire resistant community.
